At the P and J residential Weekend Conference in 2012, a question arose about our overseas Church commitments. Although P and J donated regularly to Missionary Societies working in economically poorer parts of the world, it was felt that as a parish we should find a more strategic and planned approach to supporting the Christian Church overseas. It was decided that a faithful relationship with a particular Christian community in a very different culture to our own would be explored.
As our Rector Nick Davies had experienced working in Israel/Palestine, where the Christian minority face particular difficulties, he proposed a link with a Church in the Diocese of Jerusalem. Following a Pilgrimage in 2014 we proposed the idea of a Partnership with the congregation of St Andrew’s Ramallah, the “living stones”, and the Rector the Rev Fadi Diab.
The Partnership Agreement of July 2015 saw the creation of a single Core Group of members from both Churches which committed to an ambitious agenda of two-way visits, mutual prayer, special events, awareness raising and advocacy which continues to this day.
