What’s the point of a Partnership?
Partner Churches in different cultures and contexts help each other to see their faith from a different perspective. This enlarges their understanding of the Gospel, guards against parochialism, and widens our horizons of the Church.
Why link with a Church so far away?
Jesus frequently singled out aliens and foreigners as examples to his own people – Samaritan, Roman, Syrian etc. Christian faith transcends nationality, and unites people across all human divisions – rich and poor, west and east, north and south, free and oppressed, and we can learn from each other.
Why choose Israel/Palestine?
Christians in Palestine are the direct descendants of the first Christians. They are the living stones, living in the land where Jesus lived. But political pressure has led to a steep decline in their number, and they ask for solidarity and support from the worldwide Church.
Why get involved in politics?
Jesus taught us to pray for the coming of his Kingdom, to be peace-makers and reconcilers. So we are required to speak up for justice and the rule of law, for the oppressor and the oppressed, and to care for the voiceless and the victim.
