South Cheltenham Churches have embarked on a new venture to raise our awareness of the life of our communities beyond our buildings, to discern and celebrate where God is at work in our communities, to pray into what we see around us, and to build relationships across parish boundaries. To achieve this we are running a series of prayer walks starting from four of our churches, and on each walk will be stopping at a place to celebrate God’s creation, a place of concern, a place to listen to and pray for a secular community group and a place to celebrate God’s blessing. The walks are suitable for all ages, and there will be provision for those who would prefer to stay at the church and pray.
These walks will all take place on Saturday mornings: on 14 April from Emmanuel Church, on 12 May from Warden Hill, on 9 June from St Peter’s and on 14 July from St Philip and St James. We will gather for a bracing bacon/mushroom buttie and coffee at 9am, with each walk starting at 9.30am and ending with short prayers at 11.30am at the “host” church. Do come and join us. You never know where it may lead. For more information please speak to Natalie or Nick when he returns.
