Up-date on the Syrian Refugee Project

The South Churches Syrian Refugee Project submission is due to be emailed to the Home Office on Tuesday.  It is likely that the Home Office will require amendments to the document and we have now an unsettling time while we wait to hear from them – rather like waiting for exam results, except that there is no date given for the decision notification!

Please pray for a positive outcome, so that we can get underway with the preparations to receive the family.  Pray also for the UN Refugee Council as they search for a family.  We will let everyone know what things we need to equip the house when we know the number and shape of the family chosen.

We have reached the target amount of money required by the Home Office, to prove that we can support the family over the next two years; further donations are still welcomed, as it would allow us to offer a wider range of support and activities to aid the family’s settling into life in UK.

The location of the house to be rented is and will remain confidential.  The family will come here as private citizens and need space and time to settle, after traumas that we can barely begin to guess about.  There will be time to gently welcome them into the area – at the right time for the family: it is their right to choose when that is.  Please respect their need for privacy.
