I have been here two years now and it’s been a really positive and supportive experience and I am looking forward to what 2017 brings, as for many 2016 was not a good year. Within the youth project, it was more productive as we started a new group in September called Rock Solid at St Peters Cottages in September. I am now in Bournside School twice a week supporting pupils at lunchtime, we saw 12 young people get confirmed last May and Natalie and I journeyed with them as we enabled them to grow in faith and confirm their faith at Pip & Jims.
A young person at Emmanuel Church is now on the PCC and helping lead Spark and many of their young people attended Soul Survivor events and The Big Church Day Out. We have had Holly on placement with is from Gloucestershire University and over the year we have had contact with over 100 young people and 30 regularly attending weekly activities.
This summer we will be launching the new three year vision for 2017-2020 and I will visiting all the team churches to promote this and how people can get involved and continue to support the youth project for the next three years and continue to build on the success of the past 9 years.
One event I would like to highlight and all young people and parents to diary in is Revive on Saturday 18th February at St Andrews, Churchdown. This is an established and local event for young people led by young people and is on all day.
Thank you to all my volunteers who enable our young people to meet each week and grow in faith and follow Jesus. Cheers for your continued support.
Ian and the youth team.
