South Cheltenham Churches ‘Time to Listen’
Our first event at St Peter’s Cottages was led by the Revd Jo Pestell on Nov 15th. She shared some of her experiences of ‘listening to God’ and introduced times of quiet in which to ‘listen’ afresh to the story of Peter, the disciple, and to reflect on how he heard and responded to the words of Jesus. Jo also challenged us to notice how we hear God in our own lives.
Comments from some of those who came to that first event:
“ it was a very peaceful day and the cottages lent themselves so well for such an event”
‘’a gentle invitation for God to work with each one of us”
“Jo Pestell spoke from the heart and was inspiring”
“helpfully cut into little chunks”
We are planning to offer similar events with someone each time to lead us by sharing their experience and introducing times for quiet reflection and prayer. The aim is to encourage us to learn to listen better to God in our prayer and life too. There will be one gathering every 2 months, based at St Peter’s Cottages, with the use of the garden and rural surroundings and the Church.
