“Have we heard from the Chancellor?” “When are we going to hear from the Chancellor?” These have been familiar questions in recent weeks. As a reminder the revised Faculty Petition (dated 15th June 2017) was considered by the Gloucester Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) on 30th June 2017. The DAC submitted it to the Gloucester Diocesan Registrar at the end of July 2017. Following subsequent correspondence, in particular with the Amenity Societies and P & J having taken legal advice the Registrar forwarded the application to the Chancellor in October 2017. Bearing in mind it comprises circa 200 written pages and 110 architectural drawings P & J await the feedback/comments/decision from and of the Chancellor. We have to be patient! This doesn’t mean the Reordering Board has been idle! The Furnishing Sub-Group, chaired by Clair Chilvers, is busy firming up the furnishing and fitting requirements and costs as documented in the faculty submission. The church wardens are responsible for ‘Change Management’ with Hazel Mace leading on this function, which includes identifying those items in the church and Church House which would need to be stored or disposed of. Other Board members have been engaged with the legal procedures associated with a sale of Church House e.g. Gloucester Diocesan Trust, Solicitors and the appointment of an Estate Agent. As a legal requirement the church, as a charity, has had an independent valuation survey of Church House completed. Whilst the proposed reordering is subject to faculty approval, there are many ‘ducks to get in a row’! Note: The Church Council has agreed a restructured Reordering Board, chaired by David Mace, with the following members: Adrian Barlow, Clair Chilvers, Peter Cottingham, Nick Davies, Stuart Hutton and Hazel Mace.
