St Philip and St James’s church, Grafton Road, Cheltenham, GL50 2DD

Letter from the Team Rector w/b 27 April

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ

This week we are celebrating the Feast of St Philip and St James and, in happier times, we have had some good patronal celebrations. The reading for their Feast Day includes Jesus explaining to the disciples that he is ‘the way, the truth and the life’.  A passage which I love as it reminds us that our faith is not a ‘head thing’ but also about the choices we make every day and the life we lead.  I hope the news, resources and ideas listed below give us that opportunity to walk in his way, to be secure in his truth and to celebrate his offer of fullness of life for all!

Faith on the frontline:  Interview with Tom Herbert tonight 7.30pm
Join us this Thursday at 7:30pm for our next livestream interview with a Christian whose faith has taken them to a COVID-19 front line as we interview Tom Herbert, baker, author and broadcaster.  He will be sharing with us the story of The Long Table and the ‘Feeding of the 5,000’ initiative which in partnership with the Diocese of Gloucester, Feed Cheltenham, The Sober Parrot, St Paul’s church, P3, Family Space and others is distributing thousands of meals in Cheltenham and beyond to frontline workers, those self-isolating because of Covid-19 and anyone else on the lookout for great community cooked food!
Project details can be found here:
