Inclusive Church

Following the endorsement of our Church Council in October last year, Pip and Jim’s is now a member of Inclusive Church. This organisation was founded in 2003, following the resignation of Jeffrey John, a celibate, gay priest, as Bishop designate of Reading, following controversy over his homosexuality.

In 2004, Pip and Jim’s agreed that we should be recognised as an Inclusive Church and P and J was registered.  Since then the scope of Inclusive Church has broadened  and its Statement of Belief reads: ‘We believe in inclusive Church – church which does not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.

John Horan will be preaching about what it means to be an Inclusive Church on Sunday 27 January.
