This November the Syrian family that the South Cheltenham team are helping to house will need to move house. This is because the house they are currently living in is required by the diocese for a new minister. The Refugee Sponsorship Project Group have been working with the family and diocese to prepare for this and are in conversation with the local authority about finding suitable accommodation for the family as soon as possible.
Normally the Council would not action anything until far closer to the date that the family would need to move. We are keen to encourage the Council to act now, bearing in mind the need to house a family of six and Cheltenham’s recent recognition as a ‘City of Sanctuary’ providing a warm welcome to refugees. To this end, we are inviting members of the congregations in South Cheltenham to write to their Councillors. Copies of a model letter, which you can personalise, and send or email to our Councillors can be found at the back of Church or by emailing the Church Office. Will you add your voice to our continued support for the family?
