Monday Evening with the Angolan Students

The biggest ‘thank you’ to all who helped to make this evening such a success!  Much hard work, patience [with ovens that would not light and decorations that seemed to enjoy falling down] – and welcoming smiles.  It would have been impossible to achieve such a wonderful evening without the Team of helpers around me.  It was indeed a party which will be remembered by all of us; the students expressed over and over again the great pleasure that they had in their welcome.  One student said that they felt at home for the first time.

We had two main courses, one English and one Angolan, a real bring and share special for everyone.  The smiling faces said it all – we laughed, discussed a wide range of topics – and eat great food.  We especially found out lots of things in common, as well as learning more about each other’s countries.

Christine and Hazel were unable to join us but prepared their dishes beforehand – to both of you, our thanks.

We hope that the students will join us for the various services over the Christmas period and that you will greet them all.  They are delighted to be a part of our congregation.

There may be more photos later, including one of the traditional Angolan dancing.  Watch this space! Liz Mitchell
