We are hoping that people will go together in groups either walking, cycling, bus-ing or train-ing (or a mixture of these methods) and that it will be an opportunity for us all to make new friends and to discover something about ourselves and our relationship with God along the way as well.
We are planning to put packs together that will give routes for walking and cycling as well as timetables for the buses and trains which will be available from 4th May – do look out for them at your church – and there will be sign up sheets if you would like to join a particular walking or cycling group.
However you get to Gloucester is up to you but we will all meet at King’s Square in the centre for 12.30pm before walking the last little way (about 10 mins walk) to the Cathedral along the Via Sacra, the ancient pilgrim way. Once at the Cathedral we will enjoy our picnic lunches – please bring your own – and then there will be worship in the Lady Chapel followed by activities including a Tower Tour. Please sign up for the Tower Tour as well – a maximum of 25 people at a cost of £1 each!
Children are being encouraged to bring along their teddies for the journey and the picnic and there will be a treasure trail, dressing up and the Harry Potter trail as well as the Exhibition, the Crypt and the Whispering Gallery to keep them entertained. Along the way we are hoping they will be able to follow a footprint trail.
Please do join us – it would be really lovely to have as many people as possible to make this day a memorable occasion for our Team.
